About Beate Akselsen

A soft-skilled Engineer with experience in Project Management, Site Management and Team Leadership. The full version: Main education: Bachelor in Civil and Structural Engineering. I also have a Bachelor degree with a major in psychology. My career path has so far been within engineering and project management focusing on water and reopening of piped rivers. I have had a range of roles within projects so far; I started my career in one of Norway´s largest consultant companies as a project member. My responsibilities was to establish, deliver and maintain the models and techincal drawings on Norways biggest wastewater investment in history (Midgardsormen). After one year I was assigned to be CAD-coordinator for this multidisciplinary project. After two years I left to work outside on construction sites. In the Agency for Water and Wastewater Services in City of Oslo I worked as a site manager for almost three years. I was responsible for correct and efficient decision-making regarding technical solutions, safety on site, quality and change control. My ability to facilitate result-oriented cooperation across many disciplines and contracts was a success criteria in the projects. My biggest opportunity and achievement was the successful planning and building of Teglverksdammen - river restoration. The project was an innovative, highly visible and important project for the City of Oslo. I took one the role as a Project Manager after completing Teglverksdammen in 2015. Responsibilities include tendering, budgeting, contract negotiations with both contractors and consultants, political reporting and multiagency cooperation.
