About Beatrice Capote

Beatrice Capote (dancer/teaching artist/choreographer): began her dance training at Amarylis Academy of Dance Arts. She then continued her dance training at Alvin Ailey American Dance Center. During her dance training at the Ailey School, she was featured in the book "Attitude, eight young dancers come of age at the Ailey school” by Katherine Davis Fishman. Upon completion of training, Ms. Capote attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Professionally, Ms. Capote has performed with INSPIRIT, a dance company, Camille A. Brown and dancers, Mavericks dance company, Dawud Jackson: The Wells Performance Project, Sita Moves,Frederick Earl Mosley, Kyle Abraham/ Abraham. In. Motion, works by Antonio Brown (Bill T. Jones company member) and Matthew Rushing (Alvin Ailey Company member). During her time with INSPIRIT, a dance company, she was appointed rehearsal director under the direction of Christal Brown.In addition, Ms. Capote has worked in arts in education programs at the Ailey School, Sociedad Educativa de las Artes, Children’s Aid Society, Bronx Charter School of the Arts, and YMCA. She worked as an after-school program coordinator at South Bronx Economic Development Corporation. Choreographically, She has set works at the Earl Mosley Institute of the Arts, Fort Wayne Ballet, Center Modern Dance Institute, and Alvin Ailey junior division program. In addition, has been asked to choreograph a solo in different venues and was awarded a grant to choreograph works at the Pier 17 South Street Sea Port through the Lower Manhattan Cultural Arts Center. She then graduated from Montclair State University with a degree in dance education. Ms. Capote is currently the faculty at the Alvin Ailey school teaching Jazz for the junior division program, Adjunct Professor at Montclair State university, and is performing in Christal Brown's new work "Miss Universe and dancing with Camille A. Brown and dancers in her new work "Black Girl".
