About Beatrix Rowe

Beatrix Rowe is a Melbourne-based interior designer. Her firm BRID works on a portfolio of interior spaces from major high-end residential projects through to bespoke commissions that include pop-up events and single-room transformations. Her interiors have featured in Est Living, Australian Design Review, Elle Decoration (UK), Belle, Vogue, Inside and major broadsheets. Beyond custom features, carefully curated materials and inspired furniture selection, Beatrix creates spaces to enjoy living in. “It is about thinking through the way people really like to live, behind closed doors. Her commercial projects continue her commitment to creating enduring, contemporary spaces. Beatrix’s background includes senior roles in influential design firms including John Wardle Architects and Hecker Phelan & Guthrie (now Hecker Guthrie). Through BRID she collaborates with leading architects including Leeton Pointon, Neil Architecture and POP Architecture. Two decades at the highest levels of design inform her impeccable project management skills and depth of knowledge across furniture, textiles, collectables, art, lighting and color palettes. Established in 2003, BRID's focus is on private residential and select retail/hotel projects. On every project, she applies a specific rigor and attention to detail to the spaces she creates – the natural materials selected, the relationship to light and the people who will use and enjoy the spaces. Her aesthetic favors a calm, contemporary aesthetic; in tune with the built and natural environment. Beatrix brings to each project an encyclopedic knowledge of materials, contemporary furniture and interior possibilities; as well as her space planning, construction knowledge and design thinking expertise. The new product design arm of the studio is a natural extension of the studio’s work and values. The range includes mirrors, furniture and sculptures with a modern twist. Beatrix has a Bachelor of Interior Design (Hons) from RMIT University. Design awards include Australian Interior Design Awards, Idea Awards, Dulux Colour Awards and the Eat Drink Design Awards.
