About Beatriz Garay

Obtained a Masters in Psychology from California Coast University. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and New Media and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Studies, Specialization: Translation and Spanish Journalism from Mount Saint Mary's University, Los Angeles. I have a passion for writing about universal topics such as culture, gender and racial equity, widespread education about the Latinx LGBTQ+ community, human trafficking, hate crimes, etc. My experience as a student in the continuously developing 21st Century has provided me with the necessary tools to write and advocate for minorities and underrepresented communities. Society continues to fight for acceptance and equal rights, and as journalists, it is our responsibility to shed light on related issues. As a young, Latinx woman, having the power to educate others about the numerous communities that continue to struggle for acceptance and representation around the world, through my writing, is extremely empowering. My work with GLAAD Media, GlobalGirl Media, and Womens Voices Now was pivotal to my character development. My volunteer work with Dancers Giving Back (DGB) has also allowed me to enhance my social media skills, community outreach, and content creation for social media, event press releases, and other necessary documentation. I yearn to use my writing to create a platform for underrepresented individuals to comfortably speak their minds and feel included in society. One of my greatest goals is to produce publications that are relatable to our readers. It is vital and important for everyone to feel included, respected, and represented. With the experience and education I have obtained, I am qualified to take my career to the next level.
