About Beatriz Marques

When I was younger, I used to say I didn’t want to be an engineer. The truth is, I didn’t really know what an engineer was - only that it sounded complicated and stressful, and I wasn’t sure that was the path for me. But I’ve always loved problem-solving. I enjoyed math and the logic behind it—how following the right steps led to the right answer. I was drawn to learning, improving, and bringing order to complexity. Over time, I realized that engineering wasn’t just about technical challenges; it was about creating solutions, and that was something I truly enjoyed. By the time I finished high school, I knew engineering was where I belonged. Choosing Chemical Engineering allowed me to pursue my passion while keeping my options open—after all, chemical engineers are everywhere! Through my dissertation, I discovered another passion: the automotive industry. Contributing to such an advanced field has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. I began in Paint Process Engineering within manufacturing and now work in Material Engineering R&D for Paint Design. Each role has given me a deeper appreciation for the industry, and I love how both areas complement each other - neither can thrive without the other. As a young engineer, I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve accomplished so far, and I’m just as excited for the opportunities ahead!
