About Beatriz Tapia

As the Assistant Dean of Faculty Development and CME at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, I leverage my extensive education and experience in public health and professional leadership to create and execute programs that support faculty excellence and advancement. With an Ed.D. from the University of Houston and an MPH from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, I bring a unique perspective and skill set to the School of Medicine's mission and vision. For the past five months, I have also been serving as the Interim Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs, where I formulate and communicate a strategic vision, review and revise faculty policies, advise on academic appointments and career tracks, and develop programs to enhance leadership capabilities and promote faculty vitality. Additionally, I oversee the planning and administration of Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs, ensuring faculty remain up to date on the latest advancements in medical knowledge and best practices. I collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders, navigate accreditation standards, and optimize operational efficiencies in alignment with institutional objectives. My passion lies in empowering faculty, students, and communities to achieve their full potential and address the health challenges and opportunities in the Rio Grande Valley and beyond.
