About Beck Lienau

I am a dedicated climate policy professional with a strong focus on urban climate resilience, sustainability, and social equity. Currently, I serve as a Project Manager at Brigham and Women’s Hospital Trauma Center, where I lead interdisciplinary initiatives addressing public health and environmental challenges. My experience includes managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with diverse stakeholders to deliver impactful projects, such as providing trauma education to over 500 Ukrainian clinicians in conflict zones. I am a PhD candidate in Law and Policy at Northeastern University, where my research investigates the environmental impacts of humanitarian aid and explores innovative strategies for climate adaptation. My dissertation focuses on how different approaches to humanitarian assistance can influence long-term environmental sustainability, with a specific emphasis on equitable solutions for vulnerable communities. Through my participation in the Graduate Student Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Partners Program at the USDA Northeast Climate Hub, I study Living Shoreline Sustainability, comparing rural and urban contexts to identify best practices for resilient coastal management. Passionate about fostering community engagement and building coalitions that prioritize social and climate equity, I leverage my strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to advocate for sustainable policies and drive meaningful change.
