Variety’s the very spice of life, that gives it all its flavour.” – William Cowper This quote perfectly reflects my career - a blend of engineering precision, creative teaching, and community leadership that keeps every week varied, rewarding, and full of purpose. As a Civil Engineer, I spend part of my week working in industry, delivering practical and sustainable solutions that improve the way people live and connect. I enjoy the challenge of taking a project from concept to completion, balancing technical demands with innovation and a strong sense of responsibility to both clients and the wider community. Alongside my professional practice, I dedicate the other part of each week to my role as a Senior University Lecturer in Digital Media Design. Teaching gives me the opportunity to share the technical and creative aspects of design with the next generation, helping students understand not only how things are drawn, but why they are designed that way. I encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and the confidence to use technology as a tool for expression and precision. Beyond engineering and education, I am proud to be part of Ladies Circle, both locally and nationally. I’ve enjoyed years of friendship and service through my local Circle, and had the immense honour of serving as National President of Ladies Circle Great Britain & Ireland, leading an incredible network of women dedicated to community, empowerment, and positive change. For me, engineering, teaching, and community work all share the same foundation - building with purpose. Whether it’s structures, skills, or connections, I believe in creating things that last and bring real value to others.
