I am a communications specialist, with a diverse range of skills and varied experience; having worked across the charity, public and commercial sectors. My experience includes: • Marketing, PR and branding • Management and development of Public Engagement (PE) with science projects • Writing; including journalism, copywriting, proofreading and developing educational resources • Bid writing and providing peer review for public engagement grants • Web development and maintenance, including SEO • Evaluation, research and delivering stakeholder consultations. I am currently a Senior Communications Manager for Hft, a charity specialising in the provision of support for people with learning disabilities. My role is to manage all communications internally with staff across the organisation and externally with families of those we support, managing a small team of communicators to deliver timely and well targeted comms across a range of channels; as well as delivering events, such as our annual awards ceremony, and dealing with reactive crisis or change comms. I have a diverse range of contacts and experience working with a wide variety of organisations. I have extensive experience of the public engagement of science and technology; experience of working within the health and social care sector; as well as a good deal of experience of working within the education sector: from the provision of support for schools, to supporting researchers in academic institutions. I am a trained journalist with a BA (hons) in Multimedia Journalism, a number of professional NCTJ qualifications and a portfolio of freelance writing. I also have an MA in New Media, which came under the banner of cultural and media studies; introducing me to the in-depth analysis of audiences and their experiences, and how different people understand meaning through their interactions with new technology.
