About Bee Hockin

Having recently completed my PhD in Chemistry at The University of St Andrews, I am currently working in Publishing at the Royal Society of Chemistry as Development Editor for the Physical & Sustainability division, covering Green Chemistry, Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics and Faraday Discussions. I am an enthusiastic, conscientious and motivated individual with a passion for science communication and have been described by my PhD supervisor as “a go-getter”! During my PhD research, I have developed an extremely robust theoretical knowledge of organic and physical organic chemistry, which has been the cornerstone of my research in designing new Earth-abundant photocatalysts. I am a highly skilled laboratory chemist with extensive experience in a variety of practical techniques including phase separation, distillations, chromatography, air/moisture sensitive chemistry and in situ reaction monitoring. I am confident in independently planning, executing, and analysing experiments, and in the control and management of the risks that accompany them.
