About Begum Uykac

As an aspiring bioengineer with a passion for advancing healthcare, I am currently pursuing Master of Engineering in the Bioengineering department at UC Berkeley, specializing in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. I hold Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Houston and graduated magna cum laude. During my undergraduate years, I achieved academic excellence, earning a place on the Dean's List and I also pursued a minor in Mathematics, reflecting my commitment to a well-rounded education. I had the opportunity to share my knowledge and passion as a Facilitator in the University of Houston Scholar Enrichment Program, leading organic chemistry workshops for students. My professional experience includes working as a Medical Scribe at DeepScribe Inc, where I collaborated with AI to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of medical charting. I have also interned at Akdeniz University Hospital Microbiology Laboratory which taught me how to handle patient specimens and conduct laboratory tests. I am excited to continue my academic and professional journey in the bioinformatics and biotechnology field, particularly in genomics analysis and drug discovery.
