About Bekah Obrien

In my 8 years of teaching and 4 years of studying to teach, I have been fortunate enough to gain experience across multiple curriculums, year levels, and school settings. Though my teaching positions have thus far been only at private institutions, I spent my university years of teaching practice working in the public school setting. In public schools, I have assisted in teaching Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade. In private schools, I have been a class teacher for 5th grade for two years, Kindergarten (Year 1) for five years, and 1st grade (Year 2) for one year. Kindergarten is my absolute favorite place to be! What I bring to a school goes beyond my love for teaching and passion for building up a confident, compassionate generation of young people. If I'm part of a school staff team, I do everything I can to add joy and kindness to the culture. I am able to learn new systems quickly and adapt to the school's way of doing things, while contributing a healthy balance of new ideas as well. I hold myself to a very high standard and will be dedicated to meeting the expectations of the school. Organization, technology integration, inclusion, and behavior management are some of my strengths. I want my teaching to be engaging, meaningful, and more than just the core subjects. My goal each year is for every student in my care to leave my classroom a better person than when they started (and have lots of fun learning, too).
