About Bella Ortega

I am a graduate from Georgetown University's School of Health, where I earned a bachelor‘s degree in Human Science. Currently, I am pursuing the Special Master's Program in Biophysics and Physiology at Georgetown University. This rigorous program focuses on advanced concepts in human physiology, molecular biology, and biophysics, preparing students for careers in medicine. Previously, I worked as a Dermatology Medical Assistant, blending my academic foundation with practical experience. This hands-on experience equipped me with a deep understanding of patient needs and a commitment to delivering compassionate and comprehensive care. Beyond the clinical setting, I have had the opportunity to conduct research on various aspects of breast and ovarian cancer in minority populations, such as drug/radio-resistant cell fate regulators and genetic counseling/testing. I have developed my skills in immunohistochemical analysis, data collection/interpretation, and research design/presentation. I am passionate about the significance of health disparities and cultural competence within the healthcare system. My academic background, along with my clinical and research experiences, have greatly improved my ability to interact effectively with not only diverse patient populations but also multidisciplinary teams of professionals, including researchers, educators, and clinicians.
