About Ben Akech

I am a practicing lawyer with more than 10 years legal experience gained in the United States and Kenya. I am a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, the Kenya School of Law and Moi University School of Law. I am admitted to practice law in the States of Maryland and New York; the U.S. District Court of Maryland; and the Republic of Kenya. I moved to the United States in June 2015 and opened my own law firm five years later in June 2020. Consumer Protection Litigation: I am proficient in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLB), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Dodd-Frank Act (UDAAP), Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) rules and regulations, state collection statutes and regulations, and collection licensing laws. Immigration Law: I have valuable experience and understanding of both employment and business immigration including PERM labor certifications, E1, E2, EB5, EB1, EB2, EB3 and I-140 petitions for small and medium size corporations. I have successfully assisted clients in preparing and filing immigrant petitions based on family, asylum, naturalization, waivers for grounds of inadmissibility, motions to reconsider/reopen, and appeals before US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Administrative Appeals Office (AAO), and the Immigration Court. Contract Expertise and Experience: I have a wide range of valuable skills including legal research, risk analysis, drafting and negotiations, and strategic thinking. I have the expertise needed to review and provide legally sound recommendations for each contract, consistent with good business practices.
