About Ben Armstrong

I am a highly motivated, self-starter with an easy going personality and 28 years of experience in the marine industry. My experience includes mechanical and electrical installations, commissioning, repair and troubleshooting of various equipment that would be found on offshore vessels. My diverse background, which includes hands on experience with all the systems that need to be integrated to have a fully compliant DP Class 2 or 3 vessel, allows me to easily identify gaps in the system design and integration. This also allows me to quickly identify where the issue is when a failure occurs. I have received a Navy Achievement Medal, Letter of Commendation from a rear admiral, three Certificate of Recognition from employer and Employee of the Month award. I have worked on all sides of the offshore industry to include: Manufacturer, third party representative, owner and vessel builder perspective. This section is for recruiters looking at my profile for software development. I want software recruiters to know over the years I have self-taught myself various programming languages and SQL. In my work experience I have programmed PLC's and built HMI's. It is amazing as I look back on my career, I understand the whole process from hardware to software and have touched most of it in some form over my working life. I don't have a piece of paper that shows a STEM degree, but my life experience has taught me STEM real world application. I am a dedicated, task-oriented employee who will use all my skills and knowledge to benefit the company. I work well in a group or on my own. I believe a project team that collaborates and is diverse produces the best outcome.
