About Ben Daee

Dr. Daee is a court-qualified expert witness in civil/structural engineering with a specialty in the forensic investigation of complex construction litigation/claims, root cause analysis, and standard-of-care assessment. Following a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering, he achieved both his MSc. and PhD in Structural Engineering. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Canada (ON, BC, AB, NS, NB, NL, PEI, MB & SK) and the U.S.(NY, NJ, PA, WA, CO, MI, NC, SC, IN, MA, ME, VT) with two decades of experience in investigation, analysis, and design of industrial, residential and commercial construction and has testified as an expert in Canadian and International Construction Arbitrations. Dr. Daee regularly provides consultation to lawyers, insurance experts, corporations, municipalities, contractors, etc, in relation to complex civil engineering litigation/claims such as structural failure, property damage, design/build issues, material failure, subrogation, professional liability, municipal/premises liability, engineering error, and omission, and presented written expert evidence in almost 400 litigation matters to various tribunals. He has been retained to conduct forensic investigations on several infrastructure P3 projects, class actions, and multi-national projects to opine on the standard of care of engineers/contractors/architects/inspectors, a fundamental breach of contract, verification of claims, procurement issues, and scope of remediation. He is an expert in failure analysis of concrete, steel, and wood structures, solar farms, bridges, and excavations, as well as shallow and deep foundations. Dr. Daee investigates structural damage resulting from fire, flood, impact, vibration, settlement, earthquake, wind, and other natural disasters. He represents civil engineering engagements requiring site assessment, technical analysis, depositions, and testimony as an expert witness in mediation, arbitration, and the courtroom. He holds certifications in Construction law, Contract Law, Project Delivery methods, and Infrared Thermography. He currently serves clients in North America, Europe, the Middle East, East Asia, and Latin America as an expert witness in complex construction claims/litigation matters and leads other experts in multi-disciplinary matters.
