I have over twelve years of experience working as a software engineer, hosting primarily in AWS. I've worked frequently and comfortably on both the frontend and backend. I have worked with dozens of engineers, managing multiple, disparate teams spread out over multiple timezones. I've worked directly with founders, CEOs, CTOs, and key stakeholders to turn visions into actionable roadmaps, timelines, and ultimately working applications. I have interfaced directly with clients to understand their needs and demo features. I have shipped production frontend code written in JavaScript/TypeScript (AngularJS, React.js, Vue.js), HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, Bootstrap, TailwindCSS I have shipped production backend code written in Python (FastAPI, Chalice, Flask, Django) Node.js, Go, PHP (Laravel) For databases, I have worked in production with MySQL, PosgreSQL, SQLite, Mongo, Clickhouse, Athena I have utilized a wide array of AWS services in production: EC2, ECS, Lightsail, ECR, VPC, Lambda, SQS, SNS, SES, S3, Athena, Glue, DynamoDB, Grafana, Cloudwatch, EventBridge, Step Functions, EFS, CodePipeline, CodeBuild, API Gateway, Cloudfront, Route53, ACM I am also familiar with Git, Github Actions, Docker, Kubernetes, Wordpress, Grafana, and Terraform Over time I have learned to value a few core philosophies: 1. Consistency. This comes in the form of code style and formatting, linting, static type checking, naming conventions, testing, documentation, monitoring, tooling. The more consistent our applications are, the easier they are to reason about. Brevity. My favorite code is no code! My second favorite code is short code that is DRY, does only what is necessary, and does not overly optimize to a future scale. Honesty. It's common to not understand a problem, technical or otherwise. I find it is best to get out ahead of this understanding by being honest and upfront. Often, others also do not understand, and benefit from your honesty. Outside of tech, when I am not entertaining my daughter, I enjoy woodworking, running, squash (the sport), table tennis, solving puzzles, reading, cooking, baking and golf.
