About Ben Emery

With nearly two decades of expertise in restorative justice and conflict management, I have dedicated my career to bringing the hidden dynamics that govern group interactions into plain sight. My work spans three areas: transforming toxic workplaces into thriving ones, converting challenging schools into supportive learning spaces, and alchemizing painful family dynamics to forge more resilient and harmonious households. At the core of my methodology is a focused attention on group etiquette — understanding the unique configurations that people adopt in various settings and the ways they interact within these structures. My international experience includes restorative justice in New Zealand and neighborhood-led justice initiatives in the favelas of Brazil. In 2009, the US State Department recognized me as "one of America’s 24 emerging young peacemakers," sending me to Northern Ireland to track the region’s peace process a decade after the Good Friday Agreement. In 2013, I moved to Germany and stayed for seven years, coordinating crisis interventions for families flagged by the country's Child Protection System. In 2020, I returned to the United States to establish Frame Changers, parlaying frontline peacemaking methodologies for application in businesses and school systems. I also run a counseling practice specializing in Family Systems Constellations.
