About Ben Evans

Ben graduated undergrad in 2016 with a Major in Community and Justice Studies from Guilford College - a course of study examining how groups of people organize to create change from outside the existing power structure. Fueled with optimism and a passion for politics, Ben moved to DC and found himself working with the homeless at a soup kitchen during the 2016 election. The result of that election led him to stay in social work for another few years, as these populations were greatly impacted by cuts to benefit programs. Ben also worked as a door-to-door political canvasser for state and local environmental issues, and for most of the pandemic, was a part-time youth director at a church in McLean and waited tables. When that opportunity ended, he was encouraged to consider jobs in higher ed recruitment, and he was lucky to be hired by GSPM. Ben has been working full-time and attending grad school for the past 2 years and will graduate this May with a Master's in Political Management - a course of study examining how to create change from within the existing power structure. His path has not been linear, but every opportunity helped him learn what he needed to get him here today. Ben hopes to work in advocacy after he graduates in May, focusing on issues surrounding climate change and affordable housing.
