About Ben Farmer
I am a 5th-year doctoral candidate investigating the seascape ecology of coral reefs through the dual lenses of mortality and resilience. I completed a B.S. in Biology at the University of Kentucky in 2019, then worked with the School for Field Studies, Turks and Caicos Islands, as a Waterfront Assistant. There, I helped document an outbreak of stony coral tissue loss disease (SCTLD). I followed the disease to Dr. Dan Holstein's Seascape Ecology Lab at LSU, where I have modeled the spatial epidemiology of SCTLD local to Florida and the US Virgin Islands since 2020. When not underwater or in front of a computer, I make time to enjoy the wonderful festival and music scenes of Louisiana.
