About Ben Harrison

As a well-traveled individual; Having lived and worked in Ockbrook, UK; Memphis, Tennessee; and Arlington, Virginia; I have become exceedingly adaptable both socially and professionally. Not surprisingly, I am no stranger to culture shock and have developed a distinct ability to relate, communicate and lead across borders and boundaries. Additionally, I have had no qualms accepting challenges; Working above and beyond to reach my desired outcome. For example, at George Mason University, I grew from supporting half of the campus's classroom systems to managing a multi-campus IT infrastructure and then further to leading the development of GMU's new Athletic IT Initiative. Along the way, I was nominated and elected into a variety councils such as the brand new Technology Leadership Council and the Library's Staff Senate. Outside of George Mason, I continually display a desire to hone my skills aside from standard work by taking on entrepreneurial challenges as seen through my extensive work in BitsToChange, Flixstillery, and Sapien's Muse. Through these projects, I have made countless professional and personal growth as each endeavor guides me in focusing on different branches of technology. My joy of programming is not all that inspires me, however; I spend the rest of my time on a varied set of other interests and talents. I often spend weekends gigging as an event photographer or hiking throughout the Appalachian mountains. When the day is done and it is time to wind down, I also love to stay at home, watch documentaries with my girlfriend Camille, read or simply play with our two cats Biscuits and Truffles.
