About Ben Mahony

I graduated from Dublin City University with a first class honors degree in Sports Science and Health and I have completed my Masters degree in Strength and Conditioning at the University of Edinburgh. Strength and Conditioning has long been the field that I am passionate about and it has always been my aim to have a career in this area. I am currently working as a lecturer in sports and exercise science/human performance at University Centre Farnborough. My main areas of teaching include strength and conditioning and performance physiology. I am also currently the strength and conditioning coach with Superleague franchise Surrey Storm Netball. I have provided strength and conditioning support to many different teams in many different sports. Through my years in university, my lecturing work and my strength and conditioning coaching experience, I have gained extensive experience in data collection, monitoring and analysis. I have worked in many multidisciplinary teams and have always been able to communicate and work with others effectively. I have completed and supervised research projects with some of my work being published in the Journal of Sports Sciences. I am an UKSCA accredited strength and conditioning coach, an Irish Amateur Weightlifting Association certified level 1 weightlifting coach, a REPS level 3 personal trainer and a National Strength and Conditioning Association certified personal trainer. I am qualified in first aid and I have a full driving licence. I also have a level 3 award in education and training and am currently applying to the Higher Education Academy.
