About Ben Maitland

I am an experienced public communications specialist with over twenty years of experience in fast paced media, PR and strategic communications roles across private, non profit and public sectors. I have delivered major communications campaigns and led the communications and media functions at high profile charities as well as in central government and the NHS, working on some of the most high profile and complex issues in the media - including winter pressures on the NHS, Ebola, Counter Terrorism and the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Throughout my career, I have been responsible for developing and delivering successful proactive PR strategies, managing media interest in major events and improving relationships with key stakeholders. I have worked closely with senior leaders - advising CEO’s, government ministers and senior officials on a number of challenging communications issues. I was also responsible for founding TackleAfrica - a successful and innovative charity that uses sports as a platform to help young people to live safer and healthier lives - planning and leading a ground breaking first project and acting as chair of the charity until 2010 - overseeing a period of growth and development. I began my career at a dynamic private sector PR agency learning the best tools and channels to reach key audiences.
