Background
About Ben Miske
I am a third-year Engineering student specializing in Computer and Electrical Engineering at Queen’s University, with an emphasis on the application of math within these fields. In my spare time, I am a Varsity Athlete, Campus Ambassador, and Student Mentor. My program of study focuses on how theoretical mathematics may be applied to solve practical problems within the fields of electrical and computer engineering. I have continued to thrive in this program while balancing the commitments of volunteering as an academic mentor and tutor, working part-time as a Campus Ambassador, and competing as a Varsity Athlete on the Cross-Country Running Team, an accomplishment for which I was designated as an All-Canadian Academic All-Star. Over the past two summers, I have worked at CIBC in the Enterprise Digital and Technology Operations Delivery teams. Most recently, I supported the transition of CIBC’s trading platform to clear trades within one day of trade date, ensuring accurate records and collection of information, and coordinating meetings with key stakeholders. Recognizing my work ethic and contributions, I was nominated to participate in the “Exceptional Students Program.” Through this program, I was selected to compete in a bank-wide Design Challenge, where my team researched and identified opportunities to reduce fraud through AI and secured a 3rd place finish overall. During high school, I held many leadership positions including Athletic Council President and Student Council Executive of External Affairs. For my leadership involvement, I was awarded the Port Credit Lighthouse Award, the Principal’s Award (awarded to one graduating student for extra-curricular involvement and leadership), and I was voted Graduating Class Valedictorian by my peers. I also received numerous athletic awards, including Graduating Athlete of the Year and MVP of the Cross Country and Track and Field teams.
