About Ben Moats

My career so far has been defined by adaptability. When I joined Niche, they were in the early stages of transitioning away from being an exclusively Pittsburgh-based startup. I joined a small team of three as the technical lead, and I spent the next year automating and scaling processes to be able to handle Niche's rapid growth. Leadership recognized the impact I was having, and I was invited to join a newly forming team comprised of product experts from several teams. Early on, we were defined by our scrappiness and our efficiency at putting out fires. Today, we have formalized and documented all of our processes, and we are able to proactively identify and address problems. Niche has changed a lot over the years, and I've been fortunate to have the opportunity to grow with them. One surprising attribute that I've learned about myself while at Niche is that I do my best work in chaos. I have been pulled into crises more times than I can count, and I've always found it easy to calm everyone down, listen to their concerns, and identify a mutually beneficial path forward. My willingness to think outside the box and offer quick solutions has helped ease the pressure other teams feel in those crises.
