Background
About Ben Roque
I work in the Alexander Petroff Lab. We focus on the dynamics of complex microbial communities found in a salt marsh in Cape Cod. My thesis involves using a fluorescent chemo sensing dye fixed to the side of a container to observe the mechanisms behind oxygen consumption within a vertically stratified community. On a separate project from the same marsh, I worked with the dynamics of multicellular magnetotactic bacteria. I have a strong passion for our green future and public transit. I get easily excited over cost effective, minimally invasive, and data driven green infrastructure like traffic calming measures or protected bike lanes separated from traffic with parking blocks and/or street parking. I also brew beer.
