About Ben Shafer

At the forefront of biomechanical innovation, my tenure with ESTAT Actuation centered around managing cross-functional teams to engineer MIL-SPEC products aimed at reducing neck injury for fighter pilots. The expertise in engineering analysis, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing processes has been pivotal in developing sensor suites and controllers that autonomously assist pilots based on predictive models. I also spearheaded internal and external manufacturing process to minimize costs, shorten lead times, and deliver high quality products to our customers. This required research into new manufacturing capabilities and managing the V&V of new partners. My experience at ESTAT gave me a 360 view of product management from developing customer requirements and R&D, to scaling manufacturing and optimizing product supply chains. As Calcu's Fractional Chief Technology Officer, I've sharpened my understanding of sensory technology to optimize physical training and injury prevention through rapid evaluation. This involves discovering new healthcare opportunities, developing product requiresments with customers, and building the full analysis stack. I get to embrace patient-centered design and a collaborative approach to problem-solving to provide enhanced capabilities in musculoskeletal healthcare.
