About Ben Ward

I am an independent consultant providing project development and delivery support services for renewable energy projects, and I pride myself on realising ‘best for project’ outcomes for the total life of each project. I have Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) from the University of NSW, and 13 years’ experience in delivery of large-scale renewable energy projects from early-stage development to commercial operation. I am very experienced in EPC delivery of utility scale wind farms; from tender design and support, through to detailed design and documentation, construction and commissioning activities, Q/A, generator compliance (R2) testing, project close out and engineering support during operation. I have 10 years’ experience in this space across 10 wind farms in Australia totalling over 1.6GW capacity. For the last 3 years I have been working exclusively in the development space, supporting developers and project owners with project scoping/layouts, planning, and grid connection. From my broad experience in design and construction I have accumulated a wealth of ‘lessons learnt’ which I bring forward to developing projects. Currently I am supporting multiple development projects in Australia, comprising approximately 2GW of wind and solar farm projects, plus BESS projects totalling approximately 600MW / My core strengths are- Design Management - Project Engineering - Contract review and technical due diligence - Substation Design - Collector System Design - DIgSILENT PowerFactory - AutoCAD I am open to short term and ad-hoc work to assist project developers and project owners with technical due diligence, and design review/consulting.
