About Benedict von Spankeren

I’m working on turning waste into a valuable and more sustainable resource. I was always drawn to transforming things from one shape to another. As a teenager, I built furniture from the parts and pieces I could find. As an industrial designer, I shaped minimalistic spaces in airplanes and trains. As a business consultant, I helped companies on the way to digitalization with data strategy. But something was missing. I couldn’t really identify with being a consultant. I wanted more ownership and focus on one big problem to solve. As chance would have it, one of my clients in the waste industry decided to set up and spin off their own ventures in the field of circular economy. That’s when everything fell into place. My passion for transformation, the desire for more ownership, my data strategy, and waste industry knowledge. From that moment, I was on a journey to transform a small, but mighty venture focussed on analysis of waste streams into a spun out start-up with a strong team.
