About Benjamin Abela

Full-time writer, part-time creative - my career's all about creating a fine balance between practicality and innovation. Having worked as a journalist, I've met a plethora of personalities from all walks of life, and it's safe to say that these experiences have broadened my mind like nothing else has. From well-known political figures to young campaigners fighting for justice, the job has taught me about the importance of keeping an open mind and paying attention to detail. Writing also seeps into some of my hobbies and side gigs. Back in 2017, I co-founded the 'Ħassle Mejjet Theatre Collective'- a young, energetic, and creative group which gives my colleagues and I a platform to publicise our work. Throughout the three years that the collective has been running, I have helped write and stage two sold-out performances whilst ensuring constant financial and conceptual growth. My creative endeavours also touch upon visual disciplines. The Bachelor of Communications (Honours) course at the University of Malta introduced me to a wide range of digital, visual, and creative media. From graphic design and editorial design to photography and video editing, this course helped me build a strong understanding of design and visual identity. This education inspired me to further my studies in visual and creative fields - so much so that I am now reading for a Graphic Designer Associate degree at the Insitute of Computer Education (ICE Malta).
