About Benjamin Akers

Accomplished expert in Cyber Security and Risk Management. I have had opportunities to assist various non-profits with IT and enjoy my current role as a Cybersecurity Engineer for Defense Unicorns. I’m grateful for the opportunities my current role provides to innovate and serve the DoD. I hold an ISC2 CISSP Certificate, ISC2 CGRC Certificate (Formerly CAP), and a Comptia Security+ Certificate, along with being a U.S. Government cleared candidate. I’m looking to expand my certifications in the next year to include one or more certificates with AWS or in cloud technologies/services. Hoping to continue my career advancement in either cyber security or general management/leadership positions. Education and Passion: In May of 2014, I graduated from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA with a double major in Student Ministry and Adventure Leadership & Outdoor Ministry. My ultimate passion and desire in life is to work with students and young adults in various settings including local churches, the outdoors, athletics, and nerdy interests in order to help them grow into godly men and women who have been impacted by the good news that is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Hobbies: I am a lover of the outdoors, all the sports, nerd culture, and tabletop gaming, better known as board gaming. I enjoy sharing these interests with my family and friends!
