About Benjamin Ayer

I believe in prefigurative politics. I organize in a way that I want to see the world and that is through consensus and cooperative adventures. Cross-pollination is essential to social movements. Which is what I have been doing for seven years. I have brought relationships, stories, and lessons from a wide range of national and regional causes to Kalamazoo. From this we have learned about our own struggles from different perspectives and have applied their methods to our site specific issues I have many experiences under my belt most unpaid and unrecognized not because I did not take them seriously but because I dedicate my time to causes with organization I believe rather than solely ones with funding and staff. Since 2004 much of my time has been dedicated to assisting and taking care of my disabled father. I have many aspirations. 1) To work as naturalist, or interpreter. I would like to split my time between sharing and inspiring others to spend time outdoors, to have no child left inside, and build a strong environmental ethic. I also am a freelance photographer and wish to expand that in my free time. 2) To work for cooperative organizations that are building an alternative competing economic system. I would like to focus mainly on worker and housing co-ops 3) To live frugally enough to be able to afford to take time away from paid work. So i can dedicate my time to unpaid social justice organizing.
