Background
About Benjamin Compayre
I'm not your average IT guy. My first real job was in a tattoo parlour, back then the coolest thing I could have dream of, until everyday routine without challenges eventually bored me, I needed to get out of my comfort zone, which meant ditching everything to move to Paris after being hired without any degree nor experience in IT by the most innovative french ISP, Free. There, I realised how much fixing people's issues was satisfying. Life sent me back to Toulouse where I had to go through rough years to find a new job. I finally used all my savings for a driving license, a car and updated all temp-working agencies with my updated resume. It eventually paid off. A NASDAQ listed company called me 2 weeks later for an interview, a newly opened position to handle IT support in EMEA. And I nailed it. Only 3 months later I got hired permanently then got quickly promoted as a Supervisor. However I soon felt I had to get out of my comfort zone once again should I wanted to evolve I therefore applied for a position at JFrog and had an interview with the Director of IT after a long day assisting in a Sales Meeting in Athens, and I screwed up, big times. Right before he ended our conversation, I knew what I had to tell him to save my ass : I'm a natural. I get IT (pun intended). Whatever you throw at me, I'll understand it without the need for training other than browsing the web or some KBs if I'm stuck. I've done this my entire career and I've never let anyone down. Fortunately for me, he knew what it meant. My typical workday went from assisting users globally while perfecting my mastering of english accents to getting angry at nonsenses distilled in poorly thought pieces of software (I'm looking at you, Atlassian), before the eventual "oh a new error message, I've progressed!" that keeps me motivated to fix things up. And getting calls from my mom me whenever something isn't working, but what's a proper day without its dose of routine? Unconventional to the bone, I’m definitely not the stereotypical mute geek. I'm not shy and you quickly hear & see it, although I guess that's why people from different horizons trusted me in the first place. People forget about our existence once their issue has vanished or their need has been fulfilled, that's our curse, we're the unsung heroes of each company but that's fine : we work better in the shadows. STAY TECH o// AKA/Misspellings: Ben Compayre, Ben C, Veel (that one is from my gaming days, pGm 4 evah) Specialties: IT, public speaking, training, adaptation, leadership, service, Jira (unfortunately)
