About Benjamin Deckhut

I am a Sophomore at Bentley University studying Economics, Finance, and Philosophy. I am the treasurer of the Bentley Literary Society, where I handle funding and financial budgeting. I am also a member of the international Consulting and Fund management group called TAMID, a group that practices consulting and fund management as well as client relations and client development. During the summer months, between school, I work as a supervisor for the San Diego Surf School, where I manage over 30 employees per day and spend most of my time interacting with customers and tourists from around the world. My strengths include a natural inquisitive passion for answers to tough challenges. This strength motivates me, not only to work but to learn; to understand and hopefully discover new and better solutions. While working in a refugee monastery in Myanmar, I had to learn to work in some of the most difficult conditions, with limited resources. When I was 18 I travelled around the world by myself before starting my freshman year of college. This experience has given me a passion for understanding the diversity of people, thought, and expression, not only in the workplace but in the world. My experiences traveling alone taught me how to adapt to challenges and find effective solutions. Over the past four years, I have worked at the San Diego Surf School where I have learned to manage employees and customers. Not only have I learned how a small business works, but I have also been able to explore the difficult challenges that exist on the frontier of business. Working closely with the owner of the Surf School, I had to assist in big decisions such as the possible expansion of the Surf school to other locations. Additionally, I participated in marketing projects where I learned to make advertisements and social networking.
