About Benjamin Dessau

As a new Social Worker, I am passionate about providing exceptional and direct care to improve the quality of life for each individual I serve. As an intern at a rehabilitation center, I was exposed to the psychosocial and emotional challenges the pandemic placed on the geriatric population. Many residents were isolated and were unable to receive visitors, socialize and be an active member in their community. In response, I took it upon myself to provide individualized care to each resident by spending quality time with them and actively listening to their needs and requests. In response, I used my creative and critical thinking skills to found and facilitate a Covid comfort group for long term residents. The group served as a social gathering for residents to attend and share their experiences about how the Covid pandemic impacted their social functioning and relationships with friends and families. We met weekly in which I prepared talking points, goals and activities to enhance the group experience and create a fun and growth oriented environment for all to benefit from. Throughout my life, I have been a strong believer in the idea that our experiences help shape us into the people we are meant to be. My diverse background has provided me with a plethora of social and leadership skills to help me be a better team player and contributor to society. I am a visionary and entrepreneur always looking to implement new ideas and turn them into a reality. I am an open minded, adaptable, and life learner always looking for new opportunities to grow and better my character and skills. I look forward to being able to apply my skills and personality to help contribute to your team!
