About Benjamin Dickgiesser

CFO of novobanco and a finance professional with nearly 20 years of experience focused on investing in and transforming financial institutions. I spent 15 years at Lone Star Funds, where I was responsible for underwriting bank investments across Europe — including detailed analysis of balance sheets, business models, and restructuring plans. My work focused on identifying attractive opportunities and executing complex transactions in the banking sector, which remains a strong area of interest and expertise. I led the acquisition of novobanco on Lone Star’s behalf and later acted as the operating partner for the investment through my role at Hudson Advisors Portugal. Between 2018 and early 2023, I worked closely with the bank’s management and board to support its turnaround and strategic repositioning. Since 2023, I’ve served as CFO of novobanco. In this role, we have rebuilt access to the debt capital markets, recovered the bank’s credit ratings, delivered best-in class profitability metrics, built novobanco’s equity story and delivered a dual-track exit, enabling a full shareholder divestment after a substantial capital return. I also bring experience as a non-executive director, having served on the supervisory boards of both novobanco and IKB Deutsche Industriebank. I’m passionate about investing in banks, complex transactions and technology.
