Background
About Benjamin Diebling
Director | Screenwriter | TTRPG Writer Currently directing Star Wars: Eclipse at Quantic Dream Storytelling is at the heart of everything I do—whether through cinema, video games, or tabletop RPGs. After studying screenwriting and directing in Paris and Sydney, I began my career in film and advertising before transitioning to the video game industry, where I found a unique space to blend narrative depth with interactive experiences. Video Game Direction & Cinematics With over days of direction, primarily in motion capture and green screen, I specialize in actor direction and cinematography for narrative-driven games. Notable projects include Detroit: Become Human, Sea of Solitude: Director’s Cut, Under the Waves, and currently Star Wars: Eclipse. On Detroit, I led a core team of 20+, directed 400+ days with performance capture with actors such as Clancy Brown and Jesse Williams, and collaborated with stunt coordinator Olivier Schneider (Spectre, Fast & Furious 7) to design impactful, story-driven action sequences. I also worked closely with writers and designers from concept to final implementation, ensuring a seamless integration of narrative and gameplay. Tabletop RPGs My journey in TTRPGs spans roles as a publisher, organizer, and writer. After a hiatus and further studies in writing, I chose to focus fully on narrative design and direction. Recent writing credits include Tales from the Loop, Cthulhu no Kami, Valérian, Meutes, Esteren, and Fateforge. Teaching & Industry Involvement I regularly teach creative direction and narrative design at institutions such as Rubika, ISART Digital, and Sciences Po Paris, sharing my experience with the next generation of storytellers. Since 2025, I’ve also been serving as an expert jury member for the CNC’s Video Game Support Fund Commission, contributing to the evaluation and support of innovative game projects in France. I bring a cinematic eye, a deep understanding of performance, and a collaborative spirit to every project—crafting immersive worlds where story and player agency intertwine.
