About Benjamin Dimatteo

I have always been a lover of all things mechanical. My lifetime experience with automotive work is what drove me to pursue mechanical engineering. During my time in the garage as a kid, I discovered a passion for problem-solving that I am excited to apply to my future career. As a student at Penn State Behrend, I was granted the opportunity to work under some of the brightest minds I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. This is especially true of the team at Innovation Commons. There, I currently volunteer and work on a broad range of projects both for the university and other students. Also through Behrend, I was introduced to the Society of Automotive Engineers of which I am currently the Club Secretary and Powertrain Team co-lead. I am also a member of our Materials and Manufacturing Group on campus. I am very grateful for the opportunities I have been given through these organizations as they have bettered both my educational and literal career. Through these organizations, I have been presented with numerous projects that have involved additive manufacturing, machining, digital drafting, hands-on assembly, and leadership opportunities. Not only that, but they have all challenged me to think outside the box and take unorthodox routes toward a better solution. This is especially prevalent in my work with additive manufacturing for which I have a particular passion for, and it makes me ever-ready for the next project.
