Background

About Benjamin Garcia

I am a computer science major at San Jose State University looking for a full-time software engineering position, and I am skilled in Python, Java, and Node.js, but I am confident in my ability to learn any other language. Ever since I was young, I loved to code and work with electronics. Coding anything from small projects that solves a repetitive task to large scale applications gives off such a satisfying feeling of a working product that does what I want it to do. Throughout my years at San Jose State, I have developed multiple projects on my own and in a team environment. I have created mobile applications such as a basic Yelp and Instagram clone utilizing APIs and databases. I have worked on multiple projects to help the community with the latest one being a fitness inventory tracker for anyone looking to build a home gym during the COVID-19 pandemic when equipment was always sold out. This stock tracker is now used daily by over people to facilitate an estimated over $1M in sales. I am also vice president of the Computer Science club at SJSU and am always helping to create and facilitate hackathons, mock interviews, and other events to help students advance their career readiness. I am confident I will make a positive impact with my team-oriented mindset and ability to write clean, reusable code with documentation.
