About Benjamin Gerst

I love public speaking. Whether it's a power point presentation, delivering an inspirational speech, or even acting out a monologue on stage; my love has been for performing. However, I was not always superfluously confident; in fact, it took an unprecedented accident to change my life. Growing up in a football family, I learned to loved the sport. I played from age six up until high school; but broke my elbow freshman year then tore my ACL and meniscus the year after. It was devastating; but then my drama teacher invited me to participate in the musical. As soon as I stepped onstage, I knew where I belonged. Since then my life has become all about performing; always volunteering for karaoke and trying to be the first presenter in class. I learned that being listened to as an actor was more meaningful to me than simply being watched as an athlete. So when we meet, don't be alarmed if I make a friendly gesture or try to make you laugh; it's all just a part of the performance.
