Background
About Benjamin Kampf
While serving as a sailor in the United States Navy, I gained a great number of skills, which included attention to detail, professionalism, communication skills, resourcefulness, and adaptability. As a Gunner’s Mate Third Class Petty Officer, I was required to work three jobs. These three jobs included duty armorer, maintenance team leader, and weapons instructor. My job as duty armorer required me to work a 32-hour shift once every six days, where I answered the phones, conducted inventories, and issued weapons to the ship’s security team. This job required me to be very patient with people, and to be very precise. The counts of the ammunition and the recording serial numbers had to be performed very quickly, and most of all, very accurately with many distractions while being quite fatigued. As maintenance team leader, I inspected and maintained the ship's aviation ordnance magazine sprinkler systems. I also led maintenance teams that carried out various repair and preservation tasks. Additionally, as a maintenance team leader, I trained maintenance team members in various maintenance procedures and protocols. Another role that I performed while I was a Gunner’s Mate Petty Officer Third Class in the United States Navy was weapons instructor, where I met many different people from many different backgrounds and walks of life, which allowed me to learn a great deal regarding both social and leadership skills. I also gained a great deal of professionalism, and an increased work ethic during my time in the Navy that I still carry with me to this day. While attending Ferris State University, I gained a lot of knowledge regarding history and various types of communication. When it comes to researching information, I am very efficient. I can search through many different types of documents to find relevant information very quickly. Additionally, I am also a very skilled at communicating my findings in various ways, such as written papers, other typed documentation, and presentations. As a data technician at the Michigan Department of Transportation I worked with Geographic Information Systems via ArcGIS Pro as a Data Technician. I both collected and entered data for Intersection Traffic Control and Median Type Identification into ArcGIS Pro. I will always bring the same level of high performance with wherever I go. I am a very fast learner and I take criticism very well because I am always seeking to improve.
