About Benjamin King

My current project is focused on the development of fabrication processes for degradable and recyclable electronic components and their integration into recyclable or transient systems. My Ph.D. was focused on the implementation of novel conjugated small molecules in organic thin-film transistors or gas sensors and investigating structure-property relationships between these materials and their electrical performance. My Ph.D. work yielded 23 peer-reviewed publications (six as lead author) in widely-read materials science journals. I also have experience in other areas of organic electronics and electronics fabrication, having worked as an Engineering Co-op with OTI Lumionics towards mass production of flexible OLEDs for lighting applications. In the Summer of 2020, I was awarded a Canada Graduate Scholarships - Doctorate (CGS-D) allocated to the University of Ottawa by NSERC to pursue my graduate studies under the supervision of Dr. Benoit H. Lessard. I was also awarded the NSERC CGS-M during the one year of my Master's studies prior to fast-tracking, as well as one NSERC Industrial Experience Award and two NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Awards during my undergraduate studies. As former President of the uOttawa Chemical Engineering Students' Society, I managed a 10-member executive team and helped the Society grow by increasing the quality and quantity of social, academic and professional development events such that my peers made the most out of their time as a student at uOttawa.
