About Benjamin L. Compton

I was a master's student at the University of Kansas for the Department of Communication Studies. I was my department's first recipient of the graduate college fellowship to focus on research. I received my bachelor's degree from the University of San Diego in Communication Studies. Previous school work was done at Lewis & Clark College (Portland, Oregon) and Mesa Community College (Arizona). Within the Communication Studies department at University of San Diego, I graduated with departmental honors as well as received the 2014 Award of Excellence in Research or Creative Work. Outside the department, I was awarded a membership of the Class of 2014 Alcalá 100, USD Women's Center Volunteer of the Year (2013), and USD Class of 2010 Senior Class Legacy Scholar (2013).Since starting my academic career, I have now published 5 articles and presented at 11 conferences from places such as Prague, to San Juan, to Washington D.C.After finishing my masters degree, I lived abroad for roughly two years where I had the opportunity to play in the Irish National Basketball League and travel all over the country. Once the season was up, I moved to Brisbane, Australia where I worked in face-to-face commercial sales. Over the course of a few months I grew homesick and decided to return stateside where I now reside in San Diego.
