My research has been very interdisciplinary in nature, and has primarily involved the bioinformatic identification, molecular cloning, immunolocalization, and biochemical characterization (using cell-based assays) of orphan G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) responsible for the detection of light (opsins) and chemical cues (odorant receptor-like) from reef-building. I would like to apply my molecular skill-set and experience with GPCRs to pre-clinical research aimed at the discovery and development of novel therapeutics
