About Benjamin Mauro

Dr. Mauro has over thirty years of professional experience in psychology and behavior analysis. He received his doctoral degree in psychology from Temple University, postdoctoral training in applied behavior analysis at the Biobehavioral Unit of the Children’s Seashore House, and served as a Research Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Mauro was a Psychologist at the Northern Virginia Training Center for over five years, serving individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. He maintained a private practice in Falls Church, Virginia (Positive Behavioral Dynamics, LLC) providing behavior-analytic services largely to children with autism and related disorders. Dr. Mauro has previously taught numerous face-to-face and online courses in psychology and behavior analysis, most recently as an Associate Professor of Applied Behavior Analysis at The Sage Colleges. He currently operates a behavior-analytic firm (pbd-kids, llc; in Silver Spring, Maryland. Dr. Mauro is a strong clinical source on matters of functional assessment and treatment of challenging behavioral problems, especially for individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, and mental retardation. He is likewise a strong behavior-analytic source on developing, implementing and monitoring home-based and school-based ABA Programs for children with autism and related disorders. Dr. Mauro maintains an informed professional interest in the assessment and treatment of noncompliance, preference assessment and reinforcer identification, behavioral momentum, treatment relapse, playdates, and a systems approach to parent training, skills generalization, procedural fidelity, and behavioral reliability.
