Creative self:"It was approximately ten years ago today that I found myself traversing my daily fall commute. The clock on my Ford Escape was unnecessary, even if it did work properly, to tell me the time. Time could be told by adjusting palate and tones of the landscape lining my peripherals of Highway 127. The flip book snapshots created by the rays of light peaking through the trees mixed with the speed of my vehicle in cruise control changed from a life-giving green to the last cry of a vibrant orange, yellow, and red. A firework finale before the world just becomes empty and quiet again. It was in these daily meditations that I found myself, as many early 20 somethings do, at a crossroads of my life. Like most people about to leave the nest of college, I looked out into the great horizon that is a professional career untethered by the comforts of cohorts and familiarities of home, but brimming with the chance to make my own unique mark on the world. I had completed a very well regarded internship opportunity within the Packaging Engineering community at Campbell Soup Corporate Offices. A truly comfortable existence in many ways waited for me on the other side of graduation. Yet, I kept finding myself returning to what I considered the best part of my internship. It had nothing to do with algorithms, diagrams, or production line speed models; it was reading to kids from the local Camden, NJ elementary schools as a corporate community partner initiative. It was in the space between the words of the frayed, well-used Dr. Seuss books sitting with those kids that I found my most comfortable existence. Cut scene to the present day, with me sitting in my office penning this LinkedIn "About Me" section. The 10-year montage of relevant professional experience sits inside my linked resume. These are important objective measures that I do not intend to discount as you assess my qualifications as an employment candidate. Although like most rigid templates, it leaves out room for the nuances of the growth, depth, and meaning found in the lived experiences we collect across the years."
