Background

About Benjamin Strosberg

As an assistant professor in the department of clinical psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute, my research and teaching is grounded in the human science tradition, traversing critical, psychoanalytic, and phenomenological approaches. My scholarly endeavors are wide-ranging, with a particular focus on unraveling the implications of the anxious fear of ambivalence and otherness and navigating the complexities that emerge when phenomena defy clear-cut categorization. Currently, my research takes two paths: the first explores clinical application of the psychoanalytic teaching of Jean Laplanche, and the second is dedicated to a critical examination of the intersections between racism, anti-Semitism, and psychoanalysis. My published work encompasses diverse topics, including teletherapy, psychosis, Jewish studies, and education, reflecting engagement with seminal thinkers such as Jacques Lacan, Emmanuel Levinas, and Theodor Adorno. I am committed to advancing knowledge and fostering more nuanced approaches in both academic and practical contexts. Through teaching and research, I strive to contribute to a deeper understanding of these issues while promoting interdisciplinary perspectives that can inform effective (and affective) interventions and social change.
