About Benjamin Toren

I was born and raised in Corpus Christi Texas. Having this city give me so much, i wanted to give back to it. I decided in middle school that i wanted to go to a early college high school and graduate with my structural firefighting certification. I knew i wanted to be a firefighter and I wanted to get ahead. I’m a very determined person and will do anything to get ahead and be the best. I graduated high school with my firefighting and EMT certification. I wanted to apply to the fire department right away but unfortunately I was not the required age. Instead i continued my education at Del Mar college to receive my associates degree in fire science then at TAMUCC with a bachelors in environmental and occupational safety/emergency response. At the same time i was lifeguarding and working in a restaurant. As a lifeguard i learned several different leadership techniques as i was the head lifeguard. In the restaurant, it seemed like there was an new employee every week. Having to work with a complete stranger i learned how to talk to people and improve my communication skills. Through my life I have gained lots of different vital skills to have. Between being very determined, eager to learn, and up for any challenge, i believe i have all the skill needed to be a vital member of the Corpus Christi fire department.
