About Benjamin van Soldt

I'm scientifically-oriented and thrive in a dynamic and team-based environment. My range of interests spans from translational biomedical as well as fundamental scientific topics, and specialize in development and disease of the cardiorespiratory system. My science has used diverse animal and cell culture models, leveraging in vivo genetic and pharmaceutical manipulations in mice and snakes, ex vivo organ and tissue culture models, as well as in vitro primary, iPS and ES cell and organoid differentiation and culturing methods. I couple these models with diverse molecular, genomic and histology techniques, including single cell transcriptomics and confocal, live imaging and lightsheet microscopy. Beyond my experience laboratory techniques, I have acquired throughout my training broad theoretical knowledge and a variety of broadly applicable skills, particularly in critical thinking and troubleshooting, but also science communication and project planning. I'm detail-oriented, well-organized and enjoy drafting and authoring documents. I'm open-minded to any career path (academia, industry, etc) that will fulfill my desire to do innovative research.
