About Benjamin Wegener

As Chief Data Scientist for SEC Newgate Australia, I lead the advanced analytical capability for the organisation, developing, implementing and advising on a suite of data driven solutions for our diverse client base. In this role I specialise in advising C-suite decision makers in the exploration and extraction of the meaning in the noise, with particular focus on facilitating and bridging first/last mile challenges. Prior to transitioning to the corporate sector, I worked extensively within the academic research environment. My scientific background involved work with various research institutions including the University of Melbourne, Monash University and Museum Victoria, undertaking research in Australian Research Council-funded laboratories and publishing in numerous international scientific journals. I have a PhD.(Behavioural Evolution) from Monash University and I am a member of the Australian Research Society.
